Catherine McKinnell MP recently paid a visit to TreeHouse School to see first-hand the positive experiences of our autistic pupils. 

During her visit, the minister took part in a tour of the school and saw how our pupils develop valuable life skills through practical learning. She also talked with several pupils and found out about their career ambitions.  

The MP also met with Head of TreeHouse School, Joanna Dziopa, and Ambitious about Autism Chief Executive, Jolanta Lasota, to discuss the vital role that specialist schools like TreeHouse School play in the education system.  

Jolanta Lasota, Chief Executive of Ambitious about Autism, said:  

We were delighted to welcome the Education Minister to TreeHouse School and introduce her to our wonderful pupils and dedicated staff team.  

TreeHouse School provides specialist, life-shaping education that prepares young people not just to learn, but to live fulfilled lives. The vital life and employability skills they learn here help them to realise their ambitions as they move into adulthood.

It was fantastic to showcase this work and also to offer our expertise and support as the government considers reform of the special educational needs system.
