Learning new skills in PE lessons at TreeHouse School

What a great spring term it has been for PE in school and within the community.

Many pupils enjoyed swimming lessons and are excited to swim again this term. We have been able to use the skills and knowledge of two external swimming teachers during these lessons and for many of the pupils it has been their first time in a leisure centre. It has been amazing to be part of pupils first swimming experience and even better seeing how much they have been enjoying it. For some pupils it has encouraged communication within school, going up to staff and requesting for swimming.

Skiing has also been a huge success, with some pupils becoming increasingly independent and moving off the training slope onto the advanced slope. TreeHouse School have a great relationship with Snowbility and they have built great relationships with our pupils, the trust they have with each other is clear to see.

Working with Saracens Rugby Foundation

We have been working closely with Saracens Rugby Foundation this term who have been coming into school to work with a group of our pupils. Ryan, the Saracens rugby coach, has been working with pupils looking at passing, catching, kicking, gameplay and teamwork. All pupils have been very engaged and enjoying these sessions and we hope to continue working closely with Saracens Rugby Foundation for the remainder of the year, working on different projects with more pupils.

Pupils continue to enjoy rebound therapy in school, with one pupil close to achieving his grade eight rebound therapy award. Carlos Garcia has been newly trained to deliver rebound therapy to ensure that we are able to extend this to a wider number of pupils.

As it gets closer to summer, we are excited to start working more outside and will be looking at athletic skills.
